I’m still trying to avoid carrying him as much right now though because my rectus abdominis is still separated and the last thing I need now is a hernia.

Gareth, on the other hand, still isn’t fitting the Ergo very well… He’s just two months and can support his own head very well but his legs are very stiff and I think it is uncomfortable for him to straddle my front. We’re still using the Bjorn, but he’s already 7kgs and it’s killing my shoulders.

Haven’t tried the Lillebaby but I can imagine the straps cutting. It happened with the Ergo too till both babies sort of grew into the carriers. If it is possible, try to test the carriers before buying them.

I carried Jade in the Boba today because she has a habit of reaching for everything and I lose balance. She’s also almost 9 months and quite chubby. She had some marks too on her thigh.

Looking at your pic with baby and Daddy, perhaps try loosening the straps a little to give more distance between you and baby on occasion. Might help with the leg marks.

Carrying them on your back is different. Less straining I think but I know Jade will pull my hair so I haven’t done it yet.

The waist on the Boba is not soft and bendable like the Ergo. Feels a bit like those kickboards you use for swimming. But it gives pretty good support for the back. It is even thicker than the Ergo. But in that sense sits on your hips rather than meld in like the Ergo does.

I too love the Ergo, I got the chocolate organic one and have had it since he was about 4 months. I had no idea the cotton batting contained those chemicals, that is good to know! I try to go as organic as cost will allow with my son.

I notice I am always having to re-tighten my straps because they slip around the waste and shoulders as we walk. Maybe I’m doing something wrong.

Another thing I noticed the other day when I took him out of the Ergo was that he had red lines around his thighs from the Ergo. That has never happened before and everything felt like it was fit properly. I had been carrying him for about 3 1/2 hour straight, so maybe it was that. He has really chunky legs… I wonder if his thighs just need more space.

Do you think it has to do with the fact that he is over the 25 lbs and I still carry him in the front? The weight limit for the front said 25 lbs but when I called the place I ordered it from I was told that it was more for the comfort of mom and not a safety or comfort risk for baby. I have never carried him on my back, does carrying them on your back give them more space?

This is his daddy carrying him at 5 months old… His dad had never carried him in it before and as you can see my son didn’t like it lol. He kept trying to push his body away from his dad and wanted to escape.

This is him now, he just turned 9 months… He has really chunky legs and the way he is shaped he has never fit in slings and most carries well. But he always seemed to fit well in the Ergo.

When you say the waste is stiff… How is it made? Is it at all padded like the Ergo or is it just a fabric strap? And does it dig in to your waste? The problem I had with the Lillebaby was that the waste strap was just a thin strap with buckles attached. There was no padding at all. It really didn’t offer much support, I noticed a huge difference with the Ergo. I carried more of his weight on my shoulders with the Lillebaby and less on my hips like with the Ergo.

I actually prefer the Ergo Organic over the Boba simply because of the sleeping hood. I use the Ergo for my 9 month old (easier to hood her when she sleeps so I can run after the older one and bend down to pick up things) + the Boba for the older one on the back.

The Boba has better support for baby’s back because it is higher but in my case, my daughter’s so tall her head lolls when she falls asleep.

The waist on the Boba is stiff instead of soft in the Ergo, so better support for your back but less “give” so I find it a little harder to adjust comfort levels.

I carried my son in the Ergo till he was 2 years old (and I got pregnant with number 2). He still wants me to carry him when his sister is being carried by someone else and he’s almost 4. :p

The comfort is comparable really. I have to adjust the waist and shoulder till it is okay. If your son likes to hang out a lot, tighten the shoulder straps till he is tighter around you and he can’t anymore.

I don’t have the pouch for the Ergo and don’t use the pocket because I always forget I put something in there. I almost lost my wallet when I un-strapped the Ergo and let it hang free while I put my son in the car. Had I not stepped on it I would never have know.

My baby used to like to suck on the straps too… I tied bibs around the straps and he wouldn’t want to suck on it anymore lol.

Quite impressive that you’re carrying both! Are you using two Bobas?

I am going to have my son in the carrier as long as I’m able to… He is 9 months but already 33 inches and 27 lbs. I don’t know how much longer he will fit but I hope till atleast 24 months. He hates strollers and loves the Ergo but it is getting uncomfortable because he’s so heavy.

How heavy is your toddler and how is the comfort level?
